Winner of the XI LABORAL KUTXA DEIA HEMENDIK SARIAK (2018) award
for innovative animal assisted therapy.
In order to so we had the help of “Katali”, a jandaya parakeet as well as “Gertrudis”, a white cockatoo. These birds, which have a calm, peaceful and sociable nature, are educated and trained to interact with people.
Every fifteen days, sessions are held in both in our occupational therapy rooms as well as the Day Centre. In each of these sessions, the resident has the opportunity to pick up, pet and interact with the animal. The person in charge designs the specific and appropriate program for each group, taking into account the specific demands of each user.
